Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:30:00 PM)

Summary:

Provides direct physical therapy services to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The level of supervision is related to the ability of the PTA to safely and effectively provide those interventions delegated by the physical therapist. Entry level PTAs and PTAs who are new to a particular environment will require close supervision, intermediate level practitioners routine supervision and advanced level practitioners general supervision. PTAs may require closer supervision for interventions that are more complex and for areas in which service competencies, or the ability to use the identified intervention in a safe and effective manner, have not been developed. The PTA exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Implements and coordinates intervention plan under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

• Provides direct service that follows a documented plan of care and accepted procedure under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

• Adapts treatment environment, tools, materials, and activities according to the needs of the individual and their socioeconomic context within the scope of an established care plan.

• Communicates and interacts with Rehab aides and other team members in collaboration with a licensed PT.

• Maintains treatment area, equipment and supply inventory as required, using 2 step cleaning process and proper hand hygiene at all times.

• Provides timely documentation and billing in Epic under the supervision of a licensed PT.

• Participates in organizational activities and committees.

• Performs quality improvement activities or program evaluation in collaboration with a licensed PT.

• Serves as a resource person for the department in areas of specific expertise. Educates others in the area of established service competency under the supervision of a licensed PT.

• Follows policies and procedures required in the setting.

• Identifies and pursues own professional growth and development.

• Participates in professional and community activities.

• Completes annual HES online competencies.

• Functions according to the APTA guidelines and the Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Other information:

Required Job Qualifications:

• Graduate of a CAPTE accredited degree program for a PTA.

• Meets all state regulatory requirements

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Team oriented, can-do attitude, actively demonstrates respect for all persons, eagerness to learn.

Physical Demands:

• Exhibits no lifting restrictions of any kind.

Competencies:

• Complete annual department competencies specific to this job.
