Director, Organizational Effectiveness

Rush University Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity for a Director of Organizational Effectiveness. The Director leads RUMC’s organizational culture and talent management processes and initiatives. The Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and sustainability of talent management systems, processes, and resources. In addition, the Director is responsible for the alignment of organizational culture, performance, leadership, employment brand, systems, and processes. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages a team to design, develop, implement, and provide continuous improvement and re-engineering of standardized talent management programs, systems, and processes including performance management, goal setting, and succession planning.

  • Oversight and responsibility for engagement strategy; honing and refining current survey processes and metrics that enable RUMC to track progress and performance.

  • Develops, delivers, and supports analysis, interpretation of organizational assessments, engagement, and culture surveys.

  • Identifies and eliminates barriers to achieving high performance and engagement and supports the transformation of structures, leadership practices, and systems that support our culture.

  • Provides support to the HR Business Partners who are dedicated to a functional area within RUMC.

  • Overall organizational strategy related to strengthening positive organizational culture.

  • Provides project guidance and support to teams involved in change initiatives.

  • Designs and develops resources to assist employees, management, leadership, and teams with cultural alignment and change management.

  • Ensures high-risk work groups in identified functions are supported and makes recommendations to address issues.

  • Defines appropriate people strategies to drive performance and implements HR programs to effectively support business direction that produces better talent outcomes year over year.

  • Manages the design and development of resources that assists HR Business Partners, employees, management, and leadership with talent management initiatives.

  • Manages the development of tools and resources that enable the HR Business Partners to support leaders in analyzing and acting on talent outcomes.

  • Partners with the Rush Leadership Academy to inform decisions and strategies regarding leadership and hospital staff education/training programs in order to fill gaps in the talent pipeline for critical positions, diverse, and high performance/high potential employees.

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Master’s degree or above is required in organizational development, business administration, organizational leadership, I/O psychology, or a related degree.

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in culture change, employee engagement, and talent management, which should include experience in training and facilitation, performance engagement, career mobility/development, leadership and professional development, individual/team/leadership assessment services, outcomes measurement, metrics, and analysis.

  • Experience with project management related to communications and change management.

  • Experience working with vendors and HRBPs to design, deploy, and evaluate effective and efficient engagement surveys in a complex environment.

  • Experience conducting employee focus groups to complement quantitative surveys.

  • Management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to help leaders determine links between organizational culture, strategic initiatives, and talent.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

  • Ability to use technology to improve HR operations and leverage social media tools.
